Brigit Obrist
Brigit Obrist is professor of anthropology at the University of Basel, Switzerland, with a joint position at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. Since 1980 she has conducted field research in Papua New Guinea, Switzerland, Indonesia, and Tanzania, directed interdisciplinary projects. Since 1987, she has regularly taught anthropology at the University of Basel and other universities and has extensive experience in teaching qualitative research. She built up and leads a medical anthroplogy research group with ongoing and recent post-doc and PhD projects in Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Indonesia, Laos, East and West Africa in the fields of migration and urban health, sexual and reproductive health, ageing and health, media and health, addressing infectious, non-communicable as well as neglected diseases.
